Nonlinear Dynamics Group

OverviewFWe are interested in bifurcation phenomena associated with mode interaction. Our goals are to predict heat and mass transfer in global systems with convection and chemical reactions, and to predict patterns in ecological systems.

Staff: Kaoru Fujimura (Professor), Yuki Kato (Assistant Professor), Takeshi Ooshida (Assistant Professor).

Research field: Analysis and prediction of bifurcation phenomena in nonlinear systems. See selected publication list for details.

Topics

- Multi-parameter bifurcation

- Effect of nonlinear degeneracy on the bifurcation

- Weakly nonlinear stability theory - reduction of the dimension

- Pattern formation due to mode interaction on a hexagonal lattice

convection patterns

- Stability of nonlinear capillary gravity waves of permanent form
